Each year more than12 million dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, 25% of whom are purebreds, end up in America's animal shelters. Whether lost, abandoned, or given up, most animals are the result of irresponsible ownership and uncontrolled breeding. Sadly, nearly 8 million of those animals are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them all. Millions more never make it to a shelter. |
Simple surgery could have saved many of those lives,
but many other reasons to spay or neuter pets exist:
| IT'S GOOD FOR YOUR PET..... |
Spayed or neutered dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. |
It greatly reduces cancer and other hormone-related medical disorders in dogs and cats |
Neutered animals are less likely to roam, bite or fight. |
Animals have no psychological need to reproduce. |
| IT'S GOOD FOR YOU..... |
Spayed or neutered pets behave better and make affectionate companions |
Neutered cats are less likely to spray and mark territory. |
Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle. Females in heat often cry non-stop, are nervous and attract unwanted male animals. |
| IT'S GOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY |
Irresponsible breeding breeds more cases of dog attacks. Our shelters become over-crowded, forcing communities to fork out millions of dollars to control, destroy, and dispose of these unwanted animals |
